Belkin Conserve Insight
Ever wonder how much power your TV, microwave, or cell charger uses, and how much that costs you? The Belkin Conserve Insight ($30) is a new, easy-to-use monitor that will tell you exactly that. The white and green adapter plugs in the wall between the gadget or appliance you want to track and the outlet itself, using a small screen on a tethered box to tell you how much energy the attached device is using, as well as the carbon and monetary costs. You might just find out that leaving your guitar amp or favorite lamp plugged in 24/7 isn't as great an idea as you thought. (at Uncrate)
Sony DR-GA500 headphones
Sony says their new DR-GA500 headphones have "7.1 channel digital surround sound for first person shooters." I really don't care much about first person shooters, but I can't resist their fantastic design, straight from the set of Tron Legacy. The headphones have an external audio processor that supports Dolby Pro Logic IIx and simulates sound immersion in game environments with only two 40mm drivers. It also comes with a boom mic to chat. For now, it's Europe only, sadly. (at Gizmodo)
Apple computer (the perfect mod)
The intrepid modder behind the MacBook Air Project received a busted up MBA as a gift and decided that instead of fixing it up, he'd tear it apart and shove it inside an Apple keyboard and Magic Trackpad. Now he's got himself some input devices that house a fully-functioning 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo Mac with an 80GB hard drive. (at Gizmodo)
