Umberto & Luisa Coatracks

The Perfect Office #38

Soup Studio has designed these adorable hand-shaped coatracks, called Umberto and Luisa. The designer asks, “Why stick to conventions? Why don’t distort their own essence instead! That’s how a typical Italian rude gesture becomes form and function. Hatstand and hallstand. A sign becomes a purpose.” (at Design Milk)

Digit: Pixelated Rug

The Perfect Office #38

The graphic artist who designed this collection bases his work on the decomposition of colour through pixels, a technique that has been applied to the design of sofas, cushions, shirts… Now he embodies his special vision in these two rugs made from hand-knotted wool, one in vibrant colours, the other in more gentle tones. Both rugs have their source in photographic enlargement, giving the pieces a digital and technological look. Depending on the light or time of day, a glance captures the random union of one part of the 26 colours that make up the rug, always creating surprising groupings that are surprising to the eye; really shocking optical effects. The machine itself uses Illy's new iperEspresso capsule system, and features an aluminum casing with a tempered glass cup holder, a manual shut off to allow you to control the cup volume, a removable water tank, 19 bars of pump pressure, and the ability to make a piping hot shot of espresso in just seconds. Unless, of course, you enjoy paying $6 a day for your mochas. (at Uncrate)

In-Desk 4-Port USB Hub

The Perfect Office #38

Simple, but what a great idea! This 4-port USB hub from USB Geek replaces the plastic grommet that fits in those cord-corralling holes drilled in the tops of computer desks. It’s USB 2.0 and transfers files at speeds up to 480 Mbps. You can connect up to four high-, full-, or low-speed USB devices and still have room to route your cables. It apparently does not have an external power source. (at The Gadgeteer)

It’s hard to do, but it’s important to me. (at Crunch Gear)
